A catch-all mailbox is one that captures all the emails sent to invalid email addresses. For instance, if your email address is info@domain.com, but somebody mistypes it and sends a message to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have created. Just one mailbox per domain name can have this feature enabled and thus you’ll never miss messages because the other party has an outdated email address or has made a typo. The downside of having a catch-all mailbox is that you may start receiving lots of unsolicited emails, but this issue can be solved by using an anti-spam protection solution. It is also important to bear in mind that a mailbox with an active catch-all functionality cannot forward inbound emails to a 3rd-party mailbox.

Catch-all Emails in Shared Hosting

Creating a catch-all mailbox will be rather easy in case you’ve got a Linux shared hosting with our company. You can enable this option through our advanced, albeit easy-to-use Email Manager tool, which is part of the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you will manage your web hosting account. You will find all the mailboxes that you’ve created enumerated in alphabetical order and next to each one there will be a mini "Catch-all" icon, which will immediately let you know if a particular mailbox gets all the messages for a given domain name or not. With one mouse click on the icon you can enable or disable the feature whenever you want. If there is activated email forwarding or if a different mailbox has already been set up as a catch-all one for a specific domain name, you’ll receive a warning from our system. The latter won’t replace/deactivate anything automatically and without your permission.

Catch-all Emails in Semi-dedicated Servers

A catch-all email address can be created with several clicks if you’ve got a Linux semi-dedicated server with us. The semi-dedicated account will be managed through our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel and you will be able to set up mailboxes under any domain registered here. To enable the catch-all feature for a particular mailbox, you’ll need to click on the logo with the same name, which will be on the right-hand side of each mailbox. Deactivating this feature can be done in the very same manner and will not require more than one click either. If the catch-all feature has already been enabled for a certain domain name, you will receive a warning alert. The same is valid if the mailbox that you want to be a catch-all one has email forwarding enabled, as our system will never modify or deactivate any feature automatically.
